Works Progress is…

Works Progress is a Philadelphia-based manufacturing studio dedicated to helping businesses and designers bring their ideas to life—solving real problems through thoughtful design and precision fabrication.

Founded in 2014 by Max Greenberg, Works Progress was built on the belief that great fabrication is more than just making things—it’s about understanding what a project needs to succeed. Whether solving for functionality, brand experience, scale, or materials, we work alongside our clients to develop meaningful solutions that bring their vision to reality.

After earning his degree from the University of the Arts in 2007, Max spent years refining his craft in top fabrication shops in both Philadelphia and Brooklyn, NY. In 2014, with a strong desire to create his own designs and serve businesses directly, Max launched Works Progress, beginning in Port Richmond, before relocating to its current home — a former dyeworks — in Fishtown, Philadelphia.

Today, Works Progress supports a wide range of projects—from custom furniture and architectural interiors to corporate retail rollouts and specialty manufacturing. We bring experience, craft, and problem-solving to every project, helping clients navigate challenges like:

  • Material selection and fabrication methods

  • Scaling one-off designs into repeatable products

  • Developing functional prototypes

  • Meeting tight commercial timelines and budgets

  • Delivering consistent quality at every stage

At Works Progress, we believe the best projects come from listening to client needs, thinking critically, and building with purpose.
